India is many things to many people. A huge landmass jutting out of the Himalayas, touching three major seas – The Bay of Bengal, The Arabian Sea and the Indian Ocean. It is a roughly triangular piece of land between Africa and Indo-China housing more than a billion people and one of the oldest civilisations in the world.

Now the ninth largest economy in the world, India is constantly new dimensions to attract international tourists. Last year alone, 18 million tourists came to India and nearly 740 million Indian tourists visited various spots in India. The most significant dimension added to the new India is adventure tourism, in particular the harnessing of the sea for sports. With the exception of Goa and Kerala, India’s 7,500 km coastline remains largely undeveloped for tourism. Sensing an opportunity, all coastal states are jumping onto this beach and sea tourism bandwagon.
